Mangere Community Health Trust's services are designed to improve the health and well-being of the people of Mangere, Auckland, New Zealand.Podiatry
Diabetes is a major cause of foot complications in the Counties Manukau region. Diabetes associated complications frequently result in reduced blood flow to the lower limb which can result in amputation. Consequently, foot disorders are a leading cause of hospitalisation for persons with diabetes and account for significant costs to the NZ Public Health system.
The Mangere Community Health Trust’s podiatry service provides individual patient consultations involving a foot check to diagnose and treat common foot complaints, assess blood flow and sensory changes and where unsatisfactory refer patients to a vascular team. This service is part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient management aimed at preventing extensive foot disease and reducing diabetic limb amputations. These assessments are conducted by Lawrence Kingi who is a registered podiatrist employed by the Mangere Community Health Trust.
This service is free to diabetic patients enrolled in a Chronic Care Management programme. Enrolment into this podiatry service must be initiated by a GP, Nurse, or other health practitioner. We are unable to accept referrals directly from patients.
